The Reunion – Part 2 “MINI MEs”

Filed under: Uncategorized — by ashiqysworld @ 9:38 pm

Those were the days my friend, I thought they’d never end, we’d sing and dance….(song humming in my head).

We got to SGK just in time for registration & high-tea, fiuh! (after driving around lost in K town, several frantic calls for directions to the organizers and stopping a traffic policeman asking for directions to the hotel -haha!) We made it!! N’s husband was the first to bump into us “Korang sesat ke? Biasa-lah datang area ni. Aku dulu pun sesat jugak…sampai pelabuhan nuh.” Ok that was comforting.:P

Then a string of faces came into view, hugs, salams & smiles. Man… it has been a long time. The guys we introducing (or reintroducing) their wives..and child (one or two). The girls…OMG! havent changed a bit, they might have gained or lost some weight, a hubby or child in tow. But, they were the same peeps I knew from uni days! Gamat giler! Voices filled with excitement, swapping stories and shared memories.

The two days and one night do went by quickly. But what I treasured most was meeting up with me old uni mates, rekindling old friendship. I shared a room with OO, YY and Anne…sad to hear that Anne’s father had passed away last year – Inna-lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun. She’s a STAD officer now – :P Anne..anne..hope the young ones won’t take advantage of your good nature. :)

Among the things that I observed:

  1. how time flies so fast, but people were mostly still the same, new jobs & promotions haven’t gotten to their heads;
  2. the cute and adorable, intelligent, bright children – the MINI MEs of their parents – EM’s daughter is the spitting image of her, while a few commented that J’s eldest daughter looks so much like Kak Ngah (one of J’s close friends), engaging chirpy conversations, singing “Anak Nabi Kita” to the mike without being prompted to, snapping away with mom’s DGcam, well behaved and well mannered (ibu salam, along pun nak salam jugak).
  3. the husbands helping the wives with the kiddies, feeding them, taking care of them – shared responsibility, bertuah betul budak2 nih.

Priceless moments:

  1. Meeting B’s daughter for the first time – she’s five. [Me & J had matchmaked B & hubby during uni].
  2. E & E’s wedding pictures. [they'd just recently tied the knot - one of the longest couples togather since uni days if I'm not mistaken - Mabruk!]
  3. RMU with hair on stage – getting his lucky draw – a 15kg sack of rice…haha
  4. OO being pursued by a suitor tehehe…he kept trying to strike a conversation with her-and OO trying to avoid him [wedding bells soon OO?hehe]
  5. the 15 min odd slide show prepared by Yiddin on our old matrix & uni pictures….OMG! I feel old now & a bit nostalgic now…huhu

The highlight of our reunion for me was after the big dinner – with the kids safely tucked in bed with the respective husbands or wives (non-alumnis), we managed to get togather – most of the boys (oops guys) headed for the local kedai kopi – there was a football game on, some of the girls went karaoke-ing, me & my mates hung around near the coffeehouse – swapping stories…tehehe..we finally went to bed nearly 2am.

Thanks a million Yiddin for getting us all togather – memang hats off to you! T.Apai & Gibuk - better plan something equally spectacular for 2010.
